Le Canonnier Hotel hosted on Friday 22th of July 2016 a demonstration based on the Art of Chocolate presented by award-winning Master Chef, Executive Chef and Chocolatier Veejooruth Purmessur, popularly known as Chef P.
Chefs from different hotels of Mauritius were invited to the fascinating chocolate-making demonstration. The workshop was designed in collaboration with the Tourism Employees Welfare Fund (TEWF), Mauritius Chefs Association (MCA) and Le Canonnier Hotel.
The Mauritian award-winning master chocolatier, Veejooruth Purmessur, attended culinary school at the University of Mauritius, followed by training in Paris, France.
He crossed yet another ocean to land work at Sandals Resorts in the Caribbean, where he oversaw the pastry department, after which he transitioned to Coconut Bay as the pastry chef and then moved up to the executive chef job at Currahee Golf Club.
Chef Purmessur, affectionately called “Chef P” by staff and guests, is known for his enormous work ethic and big heart.
